This workshop
focuses on integrative approaches to language that take two primary forms:
(1)
explanations
that cut across the traditional boundaries of linguistic domains (phonetics,
phonology,morphology, syntax, semantics, discourse)
(2)
explanations
that are motivated by, and attempt to capture, data of a diversity of
disciplinary perspectives, not only judgments of acceptability, but also issues
in the processing, acquisition breakdown, and mental representation of
language.
The workshop is built around
three themes, each occupying a different day:
Jan 22: Agreement
Jan 23: Categoricity and Variation in Phonology
Jan 24: Explanations of Word Order
Given the breadth
of these topics, speakers for each day are asked to focus on a set of
questions. These questions, along
with the schedule, are available by clicking on the link for each day.
